Q: What are the biggest mistakes carpet cleaning companies make?
A: #1 SPEED!
Many carpet cleaning companies are based on a volume business model. These companies often spend huge advertising dollars to sway their customers into using their services and then try to cram as many jobs into a day as possible. Often each employee wil have to do 4,5, or even 6 homes in a day just to make enough money to keep food on his families table. These are what in the industry we call speed demons. It's all about how fast they can get in and out of your house.
At Two Knights Carpet Cleaning we only do 2 or 3 jobs a day per employee. This allows us to clean at a rate of about 300 to 400 sqft per hour. The benefit to our customers is enormous as taking more time equals a more thoroughly clean carpet with greater stain removal and less drying time.
#2 LACK OF EXPERIENCE
A lot of companies take the aproach that a monkey could do this work and prefer to hire cheap labour to run their equipment and deal with there customers.
We at Two Knights believe that there is no substitute for experience! We pay our technicians more than other companies so that we can attract the cream of the crop. This allows our customers to feel confident in knowing that when they bring Two Knights into their home they are getting the best every time.
#3 DIVERSIFICATION
Some companies believe that it is better to do everything than do one or two things really well. If you are looking for a professional carpet or upholstery cleaning you should bypass those who also want to; be your janitor, paint your fence, empty your septic tank, wash your windows, work on your furnace, etc. Often these other services are being done by unqualified people or are subcontracted to others at an additional cost to you.
Our Technicians are I.I.C.R.C. trained to clean your carpets and upholstery to the industries highest standards. Should you need other services we may be able to refer you to an expert in the field. Never would we charge you for this referral or pretend that we did that work and then pay someone else to do it.
Q: What's it going to cost to have my carpets cleaned?
A: We charge by the sqft of the carpet we are actually cleaning. For residential wall to wall carpet our rate is 30 cents per sqft or 20 cents per sqft if it is an empty home (i.e. a move out). Many people are unsure of the square footage of their carpet and therefor it is best if we come out and measure so that we can give you an exact qoute for free. Any estimates given over the phone will be a rough ball park price only. ($100 minimum charge applies to all invoices.)
Q: Why do you charge by the sqft when many others have package pricing or charge by the room?
A: Per room or package pricing is usually the sign of a speed demon (see above). Their goal is to get into your home with what sounds like a deal on the surface and then have a charge for everything from furniture moving to to waste water removal. In the end you usually end up paying more and getting less cleaning for it.
Q: Do you move furniture?
A: Yes we do! We have special sliders for heavy furniture and tabs to put under legs of furniture after the cleaning is done to protect both the carpet and the furniture. We do reserve the right to refuse to move any furniture that is unsafe to do so or that has stuff piled on top of it.(see also "what should I do to prepare for your visit?")
Q: How much does it cost for furniture cleaning?
A: There are so many types of furniture that it is best to have us come and give you a free estimate. Please refer to upholstery cleaning under our residential section for further information.
Q: A previous company told me some spots would not come out. Is there anything that can be done?
A: Yes! In many cases we get out the spots and stains that others couldn't. Look for our spot cleaning specials where we will attempt to remove a spot and only charge you if we are successful!
Q: What should I do to prepare for your visit to clean my carpets?
A: Remove any small items including breakables from the rooms to be cleaned. Do not put these items on other pieces of furniture that you want to have moved during the cleaning as this defeats the purpose of moving them. Remove all pets from the areas to be cleaned.
Q: Why do you not have as many sales and coupons as other companies?
A: Two Knights Carpet Cleaning believes in giving you our best price every time. We refuse to use the common practice of increasing our prices just so we can discount them. It's simply not a Knightly way to conduct business.
